The modern era brings new challenges, especially when it comes to children's health: physical, mental, social, and educational. In recent times, increasing attention has been paid to environmental factors that affect children's health, to the increasingly demanding challenges of children with chronic diseases, and children with developmental disabilities. Numerous narrow specializations in pediatrics contribute to the quality of health care, but lead to fragmentation of knowledge and loss of breadth of action. The need for experts of various profiles who go beyond the framework of the medical profession has increased. We see the greatest potential for responding to existing demands in a transdisciplinary approach as a framework that unites individual needs, but ultimately creates the prerequisites for preserving health, raising the quality of life of children with developmental disabilities, and chronically ill children. A transdisciplinary approach implies sharing the competencies of various experts and involving the wider community, both at the local and national levels, and different systems, such as healthcare, education, pension, and social welfare systems.
